The 1917 Revolution (Feb.)
After the Tsar fails to remove Russia from World War I, unsatisfied Russian citizens begin rioting and striking in Petrograd. Rioters refuse to desist until the Tsar, Nicholas II, steps down from duty. Their goal was to replace him with a provisional government. Diarchy takes over as the leading form of government. Prince Lvov leads the provisional government, later to be replaced by Alexander Kerensky. Both leaders still aim to keep Russia in the war, resulting in lack of favor from the Russian citizens. This would continue the Revolution for months to come.
